The Majestic - Barrier Reef Pools

Morangup, WA, 6083

This stunning acreage pool project in the Perth Hills was designed to make the most of the property’s sweeping valley views while creating a calm, resort-style outdoor space for the family to enjoy year-round.

Positioned on an elevated section of the property, the pool was carefully located to maximise the outlook across the surrounding bushland while remaining easily accessible from the home and outdoor entertaining areas. The result is a pool that feels completely connected to the landscape while still functioning as the central feature of the backyard.

The Client Brief

The homeowners wanted a modern fibreglass swimming pool that would complement the natural beauty of their rural property while creating a practical space for family relaxation and entertaining.

Key priorities for the project included:

  • A pool positioned to capture the incredible valley views

  • A clean, modern aesthetic that wouldn't compete with the natural surroundings

  • Low-maintenance landscaping suitable for a rural property

  • A layout that felt open and spacious around the pool

  • A design that would transition beautifully from day through to evening

Because the property sits on elevated land surrounded by bushland, the pool also needed to feel integrated into the environment rather than dominate it.

Pool Design & Layout

The pool was positioned to frame the surrounding landscape and take advantage of the property's natural elevation. From the house and outdoor entertaining area, the waterline draws your eye directly out toward the treetops and distant horizon.

The clean rectangular design works perfectly with the large open space of the backyard, creating a simple and timeless layout that will age well with the property.

The entry step configuration was selected to provide a comfortable place to sit and relax while still maintaining plenty of unobstructed swimming space.

Pool Surrounds & Outdoor Styling

One of the standout features of this project is the simplicity of the pool surrounds.

The clients selected exposed aggregate concrete for the pool deck, which provides several advantages for rural properties:

  • Excellent durability

  • Good grip underfoot

  • Reduced glare

  • A clean, modern finish that complements natural surroundings

The landscaping was intentionally kept minimal, allowing the incredible natural backdrop to remain the hero of the space.

Artificial turf surrounds the pool area, helping reduce maintenance while keeping the area looking lush year-round.

Statement planters and carefully placed outdoor furniture help create subtle focal points without overcrowding the space.

A key design feature of this project is the built-in pool blanket box.

Rather than having a traditional pool roller sitting on the pool deck, the blanket box is integrated into the concrete surrounds, allowing the cover to be neatly stored away when not in use.

This small design decision helps maintain the clean visual lines of the pool area while still providing the practical benefits of a pool cover, including improved heat retention and reduced evaporation.

Day to Night Transformation

This project truly comes to life in the evening.

With the surrounding bushland fading into silhouette and the expansive night sky above, the pool lighting creates a striking contrast against the landscape.

On clear nights the Milky Way becomes visible overhead, turning the pool area into an incredible place to unwind after dark.

It’s a reminder of one of the greatest benefits of living in rural Western Australia — wide open skies and uninterrupted views.

The Final Result

The finished result is a pool that feels perfectly at home within the natural environment.

Clean architectural lines, simple landscaping and carefully considered design choices allow the surrounding bushland and valley views to remain the hero of the space.

The homeowners now have a private resort-style pool area where they can relax during the day, entertain friends and family, and enjoy some of the most spectacular sunsets the Perth Hills has to offer.
